The charming and professional Sales and Reservations Manager greeted us as we sat down for lunch in the lounge area. She recommended some excellent choices from the weekly table d’hôte. I started with a crisp wedged salad drizzled with a sumptuous blue cheese crumble dressing. The complex taste and silky texture of the dressing played off beautifully with the simple and refreshing lettuce. My companion enjoyed a seafood ceviche served on the shell, gently seasoned with coriander and sesame.
As a main course I ordered Five-Pepper Crusted N.Y. sirloin. This grilled and sliced beef was a perfect medium-rare and served with a glossy veal and wine reduction. Each morsel was juicy and delicious. The accompanying garlic roasted mashed potatoes were piping hot throughout and seasoned to have verve without being overpowering while the texture was smooth with body. My companion dined on Cedar Planked Atlantic Salmon which is oven cooked on a cedar plank and crusted with kosher sea salt, fresh herbs and olive oil. The salmon was exquisite and I almost missed getting a sample as when I looked up the entire piece was almost gone! Sides for the salmon included sautéed asparagus and lemon roasted potatoes. Both dishes married well with the salmon and were perfectly cooked.
We ended our supper with a happy sampling of fresh berry shortcake, Serious chocolate cake, warm apple cobbler served in a glass with vanilla ice cream., and strawberry cheesecake. The menu warns that most desserts can be shared and they are all made in house.
Service throughout was professional and warm, polished and attentive without being obtrusive, in a word, impeccable. We capped off lunch with espresso and cappuccino.
